We're Shifting the Narrative Around Who Practices Yoga and Self Care

Mission Statement - The Dharma Project brings mindfulness and yoga to communities and organizations that experience stress and trauma. This includes men, women, and youth experiencing incarceration, youth in low income schools, refugee women and girls, and seniors in low income housing authorities.

Testimonials

  • "I love the yoga, live for it! When I first started yoga I didn’t really know much about it and thought it was just a lot of stretching, but when I started you guys blew my mind. It helped me to feel good mentally and made me feel more able to deal with things, you all have taught me so much." - Carver STEAM Academy Participant
  • “My experience is amazing. I've never felt so good in my life. Being incarcerated is a condition where a lot of things go through your mind. Stress builds on your mental and you try to control things that you know you can't control. Yoga is a program that takes you away from all of that. You just focus on your body.” - Burruss Correctional Training Facility Participant
  • “This program has been a magnificent experience for me mentally, physically, and most importantly spiritually. It has tremendously opened up my self awareness which I believe would have remained stagnant if I had not been willing to practice yoga. I look forward to participating in yoga class every week.” - Metro Reentry Facility Participant
  • "In my culture, self care is nonexistent. No one believes in self care and if you do then you're considered weak. But I feel like yoga & other programs with RWN & DP are really helping a lot of people to open up their minds about how to take care of ourselves without being judged." - Refugee Women's Network participant
  • "It has been life-changing for me. I feel stronger and more balanced. I am absolutely loving the weekly program, and wish you could come every day." - Decatur Housing Authority
